Brewers often start their mash at ungodly times in the morning and tend to have quite a few cups of tea during the work day, so it comes as no surprise that some breweries now occasionally brew more than just a cuppa. We've currently got five beers in stock that were all brewed with tea.
Marble Earl Grey IPA
With this IPA the Earl Grey tea is added during the fermentation. Citrus and bergamot flavours. A collaboration beer with Dutch Brewery Emelisse.
Siren Love of Work
Session blonde ale, which is light and hoppy with subtle notes of the Earl Grey. A collaboration beer with Hill Farmstead from Vermont.
Hammerton Baron H
Released when Hammerton brewery celebrated their first birthday last month. this is an Earl Grey black IPA that has a great aroma to it.
Yeastie Boys Gunnamatta
New Zealand beer where the hops give this IPA it's grapefruit and citrus notes which then work with the intense bergamot aromatics from the tea.
Flying Dog Early Grey Black Wheat
The dark toasted wheat in this balances well with the herbal aromas of the tea, which is much more subtle than other beers on this list.
Half Hitch Gin
It's not just beer being made with tea. This Camden Lock gin is infused with Malawian black tea and Bergamot. It tastes just incredible as a Gin and Tonic and with grapefruit, not to mention other gin based cocktails.
So next time you can't decide on which brew to drink, why not try a bit of both?
