Those February Brews

We went on a tweet rampage about new beers when these came in but we've now composed ourselves and written about them.

Gigantic Brewing Company are based in Portland, OR, and they make some great IPAs. We have their flagship IPA and Imperial IPA as well as Slip Into Darkness, a hoppy dark lager. The IPAs are big juicy beers with massive hop punches. These are fresh from the states so we want you guys to buy them now, they won't last long.

Also added to the shipment of Gigantic was some Cascade Brewing. These are Belgian inspired, but very much North American sours. We have the Strawberry and Sang Noir 2014 editions, barrel aged with strawberry and cherry respectively These are very special beers to be shared and enjoyed!

Another new brewery for us is Victory. They're based in Pennsylvania and have been brewing since 1996. We have their Hop Devil IPA and Headwaters Pale Ale. The IPA is 6.7% and American hopped with a German Malt base. The Pale Ale uses Simcoe and Citra to create a crisp lemony beer.

From Germany we have tracked down the brilliant Tegernseer Hell. This is a great example of a Munich Lager and is crisp and refreshing. A classic lager.

We've got a reup from favourites Flying Dog, Left Hand and Thornbridge but we always get something new. Flying Dog have released a new 6% Amber Ale called Counter Culture with an interesting label depicting Christ's last supper. From Left Hand we have their award winning export stout Fade to Black, it pours dark with licorice and black cardamon notes. Finally from Thornbridge, we have their collaboration with Wild Beer Co, Tart, a Bakewell sour. The beer is refreshingly tart and dry with a combination of citrusy hops and flavours of grapefruit and bitter lemon.

And this beer, well, this beer doesn't even exist. However, if it did exist, it would be a strong stout concocted by the Brooklyn brewing team under cover of secrecy and hidden from everyone else at the brewery. The myth is that this supposed “Black Ops” was then aged for four months in bourbon barrels, bottled flat, and re-fermented with Champagne yeast. But it doesn't exist so you'll never find out.
