Beer of the Week 13/3/19 - Hop City DDH IPA

Hop City is brewed by Northern Monk every year to celebrate their annual festival, also called Hop City. Celebrating the freshest hoppiest beer from near and far, expect DIPAs, IPAs & Pales. Breweries such as Other Half, Equilibrium, Hudson Valley are repping the US. From Europe you will find Mikkeller, Stigbergets, Fuerst Wiacek & Whiplash, whilst the UK is showing off with the likes of Cloudwater, Burnt Mill, Track, Verdant, Magic Rock and many many more.

This year's ambassador beer is a Double Dry Hopped IPA brewed in collaboration between (deep breath) Northern Monk, Cloudwater, Wylam, Verdant and DEYA. Using their hop supplier Yakima Chief, they brewed this beer with fresh 2018 harvest hops including a new breed called Sabro. Sabro brings aromas of lime zest, tangy grapefruit & tropical fruits. This IPA is then paired with Simcoe and backed up with Citra, Chinook & Columbus. I was in NY last week and tried a few beers with Sabro and it didn't disappoint.
This is a brilliant juice bomb of a 7% IPA. Perfect to enjoy whilst you wait for the festival on April 18th-20th. Steph and Phill will be about for one of the sessions, and you may even see our own Rahul volunteering over the weekend.
